Fences have three main components – fence posts, fence rails and fence siding and selecting good material for all of these make a great fence. Generally the posts wear out and decay easily and are also sometimes prone to termite infestation. It is therefore important to choose the right post and extend the life of your timber fence. We recommend use of Class 1 Timber such as ironbark, tallowwood, cypress, grey gum as these are the most durable qualities of timber . Some timbers require additional treatment including the radiata pine and Tasmanian Oak (basically the Class IV timbers) and we at Delmonte do not prefer using these unless treated.
